What does it mean when a dragonfly repeatedly dips its tail in water? Like in this photo below.... It normally means that they are laying their eggs.....
Their nymphs are aquatic, and so they need to lay their eggs in the water. Note.....Not all species of dragonfly lay their eggs like this , some lay them on plants growing on the edges of bodies of water. Here is the sequence of them together - the male clasping the female (not mating) to make sure she does not mate again before she lays her eggs.
