KATYDIDS aka long horned grasshoppers aka bush crickets, feeding at night.

Some katydids can be very large, and resemble leaves, either brown/dead or green/alive. Their primary defence mechanism is not to be seen at all.

Some katydids have a pointy head, and can be called cone heads - as long at they cannot hear you.

This species was apparently named after a species whose song sounds like the phrase “Kate-she-did”. Look for the long sword-like ovipositor.
