Another carpenter bee

Another carpenter bee and this one is the COLLARED CARPENTER BEE. (Xylocopa dejeanii alboxantha).

Many people can confuse carpenter bees with bumble bees.

With their extremely strong mandibles, some female carpenter bees dig tunnels in solid wood—hence their name—in which they prepare brood cells.

This is a male...the female has a much more pronounced collar.
