What is that green pigeon?

It is in fact the Common emerald dove.

The common emerald dove is also called the Asian emerald dove, or grey-capped emerald dove (Chalcophaps indica) and also the green dove and green-winged pigeon.

The male has a white patch on the edge of the shoulders and a grey crown (like in these pictures), which the female lacks.I often see them on the ground as they are quite terrestrial, while searching for fallen fruit or seeds.

And did you know that the the common emerald dove is the state bird of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
