Male and Female differences
IN some species sexual dimorphism (differences) is quite pronounced; sometimes in size, sometimes in colour.
So when i tell you that these photos are of the CRIMSON Dropwing dragonfly, do not be surprised that it is in fact yellow, as that is the female.
They have wonderful almost solid parts to their hindwings, like a Lamborghini design, but im not sure if it makes them any faster.
Females have brown upper compound eyes, and a grey/blue underneath, as show above and below.
A common dragonfly, but nonetheless very appealing, and often perches on twigs nearby paths and is often not shy.
See tomorrow, for the male CRIMSON dropwing.
