If you look closely, there is actually quite a lot going on in this shot.

I was hiding in some trees near Brides Pool where I know these egrets often gather, when a lovely bird flew by me to land in a tree opposite. Poor chap! He came into land on a small branch, planted his right foot and SNAP, it broke off (you can see it falling away behind his right foot). He dropped a meter, brakes on, he flared his wings, and just then he noticed me standing with my lens pointing right at him, getting this shot - a potential predator. Not a great moment for the bird, but I thoroughly enjoyed capturing this technically challenging shot.

I attach some others pictures from the same morning and same spot.

Here is the shot full frame, at 200mm from my 70-200mm zoom.
