This is a species of true bug in the family Pyrrhocoridae, also known as the red cotton stainer. It is a serious pest of cotton crops, which is not much of an issue here in Hong Kong.
You can see them in summer, often in mating pairs, as below, and later as numerous hatchling nymphs.
